Google Play's app and games catalog — over 3 million titles at the time — had no single owner for its taxonomy. It had been built up in pieces across disparate teams until the tech debt was expensive enough that no one wanted to touch it.

I helped rebuild it: leading the taxonomy redesign for Apps Editorial, serving as second reviewer for Games, and helping design the classification system — genres, sub-genres, mechanics, themes, monetization models, app features — so search, recommendations, and store merchandising across Google Play could all run on the same foundation.
